Brown bin collections temporarily stood down to allow for essential driver training

Date Released - 30/10/2023

There will be no Tameside brown bin collections from Monday 13 to Wednesday 15 November and Monday 4 to Wednesday 6 December to allow bin wagon drivers to undertake essential HGV refresher training.

Households due brown bin collections on those dates are being urged to leave their brown bins out for collection in the weeks prior, to ensure they are emptied.

All other bin collections are due to remain as normal.

Tameside Council Executive Member responsible for Environmental Services Cllr Denise Ward said: “All HGV drivers, including our bin wagon drivers, need to undertake five days of training every five years.  We are standing down brown bin rounds on the dates outlined to enable them to complete their training while causing minimal disruption to the service to residents.

“We normally empty brown bins on a weekly basis so as long as households due a collection remember to put their bins out the week before, they should hopefully experience minimal inconvenience. My thanks goes to residents for their understanding and for working with us to enable this training to take place.”
